As part of our 8-day tour, we travelled from West Cork through Cork City & onto Waterford. We had a lovely two-night stay at the elegant Clayton Hotel Cork City. The five of us shared a large family room & thoroughly enjoyed the comfort, cleanliness & style of the Clayton.
Location
The Clayton is right in the heart of Cork City. It was only a short walk to the English Market, shops & restaurants. I love being able to park the car and walk places so the hotel’s location was ideal for us. There is a car park behind the hotel with elevator access into the lobby.
In terms of exploring outside Cork City, it was easy to exit the city & head off for the day. We visited the Jameson distillery during our stay. The Clayton is a short drive to Fota Wildlife Park & the gorgeous coastal town of Cobh.
Style, Cleanliness & Comfort
Walking into the lobby is exciting. It’s a busy place with restaurants, a little cafe, an information corner & plenty of places to sit & relax. It’s a really interesting design where you can look up past all of the floors to a skylight.
We checked into our room & were really delighted with it! There were windows on 2 full sides of the room with stunning views over Cork City. We had a double bed, a single bed & a pullout couch. The 5 of us were very comfortable. The 2 walls of windows made the room feel really cosmopolitan, like a fabulous city apartment.
The room was very clean, stylish & elegant. The carpets in our room & through the hotel were fresh & clean. There was a lovely smell of clean throughout the hotel which I love! A highlight was the pile of hand towels they left for us & the beautiful toiletries. Oh and the lovely chocolates & variety of tea bags in the room!!
We felt very comfortable in our room. It was quiet & there was plenty of room for the five of us to spread out.
Additional highlights include vending machines in the hall, a gorgeous pool & spa, plenty of fluffy fresh towels and no password on the wifi!!

Dining at the Clayton Hotel
Kudos. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, Kudos. The space was elegant & so well kept. The drinks were delicious as was the dinner & dessert. Everything was beautifully presented. The staff were all courteous & everything ran so smoothly. They cleaned the tables after guests left with proper cleaner – something I don’t see that often. The level of cleanliness was high throughout the hotel which is a big highlight for me.
Breakfast. The breakfast buffet was super fresh with lovely choices including pancakes, smoothies, fresh fruit & hot foods. They have a gluten-free section as well. There were so many choices! The restaurant that breakfast is held in is also very stylish & comfortable.
Our dining experience at the Clayton was delicious food in a stylish space with excellent service.
Everything in the hotel was so clean, fresh & well kept. All of the staff were kind, helpful & courteous. We were so well looked after. I’d highly recommend a stay at the Clayton Hotel Cork City. For more holiday inspiration, check out these trending travel destinations.
Our Travels
In case you missed it, my family & I were away on a lovely road trip for 8 days to the south of Ireland. We started our adventure at Top of the Rock, Drimoleague, in a luxury pod – glamping at its best. From there we headed along the coast to the Radisson Blu which is located east of Cork City. We enjoyed a great day out at Fota Wildlife Park & the scenic town of Cobh.
