I was quite shocked to receive an email announcement from Hasbro that one of the popular characters from the classic board game Cluedo or Clue has been bumped off! I have to start by saying that Clue was my most favorite game growing up. I was always Miss Scarlet & I loved to win the game. No, I’m not at all competitive. Well, maybe a bit.
So the email really sparked my interest! Who has been killed off now? Please tell me it’s not Miss Scarlet. In fact, it is the infamous housekeeper, Mrs White.
Professor Plum, who was a guest at Tudor Manor when Mrs. White was found dead, said: “She carried the secrets of this house and of the people in it. There’s probably a million reasons any one of us would want her dead…well, no, not me, of course, not me.”
Mrs. White has been replaced by the mysterious Dr. Orchid. The Dr. is the adopted daughter of the mansion’s owner. Dr. Orchid joins Professor Plum, Colonel Mustard, Miss Scarlet and Mrs. Peacock in the classic murder mystery board game. This is the first time since the Cluedo game launched in 1949 that one of the original six characters has been axed. I have to say that Dr. Orchid is quite stylish looking.
New suspect Dr. Orchid is a biologist with a PhD in plant toxicology, privately schooled in Switzerland until her expulsion following a near-fatal daffodil poisoning incident. She was then home-schooled by the very woman she would go on to replace, the late housekeeper, Mrs. White. A very suspicious character indeed.
I still have my original board game from when I was little. It’s pretty rough & missing some pieces. As you can see, it’s been well loved…
The new board game looks great & so stylish! I’m really looking forward to playing the new game, complete with all of its pieces, with my kids. Dr. Orchid will appear in the new edition of Cluedo or Clue, available in stores beginning this month, July 2016.
We love to play board games as a family. What are your favorites?
Disclosure: I am being sent a new Cluedo board game in exchange for this announcement, all opinions & the love of Clue are my own.
