This was the question that plagued me for months – what to wear to #BML16. Oh, I went back & forth & back & forth. Basically driving myself crazy. Part of my dilemma was that this was the first year I attended & I had no idea how dressy people got. And I was a finalist & didn’t want to look bad on the off chance that I won. The other part of my dilemma came from the fact that I flew over on Ryanair & was determined to only bring a carry-on bag.
It wasn’t just the Saturday of #BML16 to consider – there were other events over the weekend too like the fringe party Friday night & visiting my family on Sunday. I could have had countless outfit changes but I was determined to stick with my carry on bag only plan.
But then I read a post talking about all of the goodies & getting them home. Then I realized I needed a carry-on bag with room left in it! I’d have to be strategic! Things would have to go with other things, not too many shoes. I’d have to make decisions. I can’t bring outfit choices. And I had to choose out of my closet, as a new outfit wasn’t in the budget.
So, this is what I came up with. After getting official Twitter approval from my blogger posse, I decided on this favorite dress of mine for #BML16. I also decided that I would not be getting changed in the evening. One outfit – all day – job done.
I’m delighted I went with this plan because I would have been sad to leave #BML16 to get changed. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the chatting, snacking & drinking that I did all day. My other consideration for this dress was flat shoes. I read many suggestions to wear comfy clothes & flat shoes. I’m glad I went with my Michael Koors sandals as I was very comfortable all day which was lovely!
I decided to travel to London on Friday in my comfy sandals & a maxi dress. I wore a black cardigan with a hood on it which came in handy at the airport because it was raining & Ryanair has you walk out onto the runway to board the plane. I wore my favorite & usual Marc by Marc Jacobs hobo bag.
For the Friday night fringe party, I decided to wear my skinny jeans with a black flowy top & jacket. Black is my favorite evening colour. I made it more summery with flowery wedges which are normally comfy but my feet were killing me by the time I got them off at the end of the night.
I have new glasses that I adore. They are so comfortable & I love the colour. I was getting sick of the red! For the visit with family & my flight home on Sunday, I wore my skinny jeans, the flat sandals, a black t-shirt & my black cardigan with the hood that I wore over. I forgot to take a photo of myself on Sunday. I was too busy packing (ie cramming toys into my suitcase) to remember.
I feel like the outfits all worked really well & only took up half of my carry-on bag. I’m happy that everything interchanged & I only needed two pairs of shoes. That left plenty of room to stuff in toys that I picked up for the kiddies at #BML16.
Check out my fabulous #BML16 sponsor, Innovo. An easy & non-invasive way to restore the pelvic floor after having children. I’ve been using it myself & have found a difference already. Full review coming soon.
