Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Galway Review

We had such a lovely stay at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Galway over Easter holidays. The staff was all so welcoming & professional. It was five-star service all around! The hotel is clean, inviting & spacious with stunning views. We (myself, hubby & 3 kiddies) stayed for two nights & had two beautiful breakfasts.

The hotel is located next to Lough Atalia & is a short walk from Eyre Square. It’s a great location because it’s close enough to get to the shops & restaurants but far enough away from them to be quiet & relaxing. If you walk into town, I’d recommend a stroller for the little ones. The taxi from the hotel to Eyre square was around 6 euros.

Upon entering the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Galway, the first thing I noticed was how open & spacious the lobby is. There is plenty of comfy chairs to sit & relax. Everything is conveniently located off the lobby, such as the bars & restaurants. The elevators are glass which the kids found so exciting!

There is plenty of light in the hotel from the line of windows & doors at the back of the lobby that opens out onto a huge outdoor space that looks out over Lough Atalia. The views are stunning from the bar, restaurant & any rooms that look out over the lake. The outdoor space provided a great place for the kids to run around. It’d be a lovely place to sit & enjoy a drink while looking out over Lough Atalia.

We parked our car in the adjacent carpark. There is a sign in the carpark for the hotel & the elevator takes you directly into the hotel’s lobby. It was super convenient with the kids & bags. We kept the stroller in the car & could easily take it out when we went into town.

After checking in, we enjoyed some delicious scones & watched soccer on the TV in the bar. The scones were gorgeous & the chairs were super comfy & relaxing.

The Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Galway is very kid friendly. There is plenty of room for them & the hotel gave each of the kids a gift pack. Inside was a word search book, sweets, crayons, play tickets & instructions to make a paper airplane. The kids really enjoyed the hotel search where you had to find objects around the hotel that were written in the book. And they had a lot of fun with the play tickets – they created so many games in the room with their packs.

We had adjoining rooms overlooking the lake. I was really impressed with the look of the rooms. They were well decorated, clean & quiet. The view of the bay is stunning! Each room had huge windows to take advantage of the beautiful view. This is the view from our rooms.

One room had a huge king size bed & the other room had two single beds & a roll away bed. Each room had its own bathroom, desk & closet. Our room had a mini bar with a mini-fridge, glasses, wine glasses, a station to make tea & an ice bucket. There are ice machines on every floor. The mini-fridge is great when traveling with kids & the ice bucket came in handy for having a drink in the room. Have a look around the grown-ups room.

This is the view from the king size bed looking towards the kids room & then photos inside their room. The three kids really loved having their own room & TV. It was so convenient to have the two rooms so after the kids went to bed we could stay up & watch tv in our room without disturbing them.

The rooms were very clean, well-appointed, quiet & comfortable. Each room had a thermostat to adjust the temperature to your liking. We had a great nights sleep & were ready for breakfast downstairs in the hotel’s restaurant, Marinas Grill. The kids were excited as they love a breakfast buffet & this one didn’t disappoint! The Radisson’s breakfast buffet is huge! There are so many choices! There are pastries, breads, fruit, yogurt, cold cuts, cheeses, hot breakfast foods, cereals, nuts, juices, tea & much more.

There is so much choice! And everything was delicious. I tried a few different things – for review purposes of course. The kids went up for seconds & thirds – their favorites were the croissants, sausages, fruit & pain au chocolat (they take after their mother). The restaurant is spacious & looks out over the beautiful lake.

After breakfast we had a chill out in the room then headed down to the pool. A hotel pool is a big bonus anytime we travel with the kids. It’s good fun for them & it’s convenient when you don’t have to leave the hotel. The pool was big & had a separate baby pool. The big pool had a shallow section that our 6-year-old could stand in.

Around the main pool was a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi & an outdoor hot tub. Everything is kept spotlessly clean. My husband & I took turns playing with the kids & going in the hot tub. It was the most relaxing 10 minutes of my life. I nearly fell asleep. The hot tub overlooks the beautiful lake & it was super refreshing & relaxing to sit outside surrounded by hot bubbles.

The Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa Galway has thought of everything you’d want at the pool. They had water coolers around the pool & at the pool reception. They have swim nappies for sale & provide complimentary towels & bags for your wet clothes. Like the rest of the hotel, the changing rooms are beautifully kept & inviting. Hotel reception will send you a robe & slippers for walking to & from the pool. When we got back to the room I was delighted to find a line you can pull across the bathtub to hang your wet swimsuits on.

A few additional points about the hotel: There is drinkable water throughout the hotel, even in the bathrooms. I was delighted they have free wifi throughout the hotel. Reception has maps of Galway & they had great suggestions of things to do with the kids.

Overall we couldn’t have been happier with our stay at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Galway. It was clean, well appointed & the staff made the stay even better. The pool & breakfast were highlights as was the adjoining room & view of the bay. There wasn’t anything more we could have asked for.
