I’m delighted to welcome Karen of Two Tiny Hands to the Happiness Series this week! Karen blogs about life as a mum, she shares crafts, recipes & their adventures. Karen answered the Happiness Series Interview, so without furhter adu here is Two Tiny Hands on happiness…
1. Name three things in life that make you happy. And, please tell us a little about each one.
A. My boys, little Robot, and big Dave. My little family made July 15. The Robot amazes me daily, growing at hyper speed. Dave my rock, he keeps me stable, sane and looks after me while I’m sleep deprived!
B. Sunshine, it is the best cure for most my moods. A little bit of vitamin D and the world is good again. Not hot, though! I can’t handle hot!
C. Chocolate, I try to stem my intake but darn it, it’s just too nice!
2. What’s something you do to find your happiness when you’ve lost it?
Have a hug. Have some chocolate. Have a bath.
3. What cheers you up after a long, difficult day?
Dave, I always look forward to him coming home, I get a hug, and get to listen to what a chaotic day he has. Ever the storyteller he always has had one adventure or another! Plus it’s normally tea time, food cheers me up too!
4. Does your job make you happy? If you are a SAH parent, does that make you happy?
Job no, on maternity at the moment and I have 4 months left to make the decision whether to go back! As the job is dull, dull, dull I think my decision is easy… SAHM career is looming, beyond nervous, but very excited to grow my Robot myself and not leave him with strangers.
5. Share a happy memory with us.
Many many holidays but this one in March 2013 is my favourite. We were cycle touring Scotland’s islands. The rest of the UK. was snow locked but up in the islands, it was sunny but cold. one night we needed to camp somewhere off track for free. At the end of this particular track, we found a waterfall with enough space for our tent, it was minus temperature during the night but we woke up to this beautiful day, always a happy memory.
6. Do you think money can bring happiness?
Yes and no! Neither is a guarantee. Money and happiness are very similar. The more you have the more you normally want. I know happy poor people and sad rich people. Often it is perceived wrong and the person you think is happy or rich is neither.
7. Is your happiness influenced by the things you do or the way you think?
Again both! Often the way you think influences what you do.
8. Which would make you the happiest – a sun holiday, new car or a new job opportunity?
And I have to choose!? I suppose at the moment the job, if I could do a job from home around family I would. As I’m not a huge fan of sun holidays I’d second place the car. One with 5 doors, please!
9. Which wine makes you happier – red or white? ?
Neither, I just don’t like wine, it has never sat well! I nice cider, though, not a mainstream one.
10. Share a quote that makes you smile.
I don’t really have a quote, but I remember at my Nan’s funeral, a sad occasion I know, one of her friends came to me and said, “your Annies Granddaughter?” I said yes, “she was always smiling, so are you.” I always channel my inner smile. The beautiful thing about my son now though is he always smiles, at everyone, and they all comment on him. Just a smiley family I suppose!
