We love playing board games in our house. They are such a great way for the family to enjoy each other’s company without technology. Disney Pictopia and Dobble arrived for us to review which was perfect timing with the midterm break!
Disney Pictopia is a trivia game. Everyone has a Mikey Mouse token to move along the board. The trivia cards are done with pictures so the whole family can play.
Some of the questions were easy & others were more challenging. Depending on which space you land on the board, you either answer a question by yourself or together as a group. My favorite space on the board was one where the player chooses an answer & all of the other players bets which answer they will choose. It added an interesting dimension to the game. You use a Mikey Mouse selector (above image – bottom right) & numbers to select your answer & place bets.
Here is a short video that demonstrates how Disney Pictopia is played.
We really enjoyed playing Disney Pictopia. The first time we played, it took a little while to figure out the rules as there are several dimensions to the game. Once we got the hang of it, we had a really great time playing! The betting & guessing aspects were the kids’ favorite part of the game.
Dobble is five card games in one pack. Each card has a variety of symbols on it. For every pair of Dobble cards, there is one symbol that’s the same. The winner is the person who can point to the matching symbols & say the symbol’s name out loud the fastest.
Here is a short video that shows how Dobble is played.
Dobble is easy to understand & play. Before playing a game, we had a practice round where each child got two cards to find which two symbols matched. That got them warmed up & used to looking at the symbols before we played a proper game. Our 2-year-old even enjoyed picking the matching symbols. Between the two games, the kiddies voted Dobble as their favorite. My kids are 2, 6 & 8 years old.
Both games are well made & fun to play. I’d recommend either for families to enjoy together. Younger children could play Dobble on their own but not Disney Pictopia.
Does your family have a favorite board game?
Disclosure: We were very kindly sent Pictopia & Dobble for review, however, all opinions are my own.

I would crush my kids in Pictopia because I’m still a Disney kid at heart while they watch Nickelodeon! I have been buying more board games lately so my kids have something to do when it starts to snow. Thanks for sharing this with us! I will check these out next time I go to the store.
