Tourmakeady is a small village in the West of Ireland known for its rugged & scenic views. It is nestled between Lough Mask & the Partry Mountains in County Mayo. Tourmakeady is a popular spot to visit in the summer months for fishing, walks & drives.
My family & I drove through Tourmakeady over the weekend & it was so beautiful that I decided to start videoing so you could enjoy the scenery too.
The lake, Lough Mask is huge! We were driving for ages & the lake was there the whole time. The contrast between the lake & the mountains is breathtaking.
They say a picture’s worth 1,000 words, so see beautiful Tourmakeady for yourself in my short video. Hop in the car with my family & enjoy the drive along the narrow & winding roads of the West of Ireland!

Collect Moments, not things
My husband & I love bringing the kids off for drives like this so they can see some of the stunning scenery around the West of Ireland. Travel, days out or even just going for walks near your house can all be great learning for kids & parents alike.
These quotes nicely sum up what getting out of the house as a family is all about.
I’m hoping to get back to Tourmakeady someday, for a walk next time. I’ve heard there is a beautiful waterfall there & I’d love to see it.
Do you have a favourite family outing or things to do together out of the house?
More on the West of Ireland
For more scenery from the West of Ireland, join the kids, Mia our sheep-dog & I on our adventure to the top of the big hill. The view from the top is beautiful! For more on the crazy narrow roads where I live, check out this post about the roads I drive.
Thanks for stopping by & have a great day. xx
Note I wasn’t asked or paid to promote Tourmakeady – it was just a fun family day out.
