I’m super excited to have one of my blogging besties on The Happiness Series this week! You might remember Jolene a/k/a One Yummy Mummy as my partner in crime at the Boots Maternity & Infant Awards last year. She writes delicious recipes & hilarious posts over on her blog, One Yummy Mummy. Without further ado, here is Jolene on happiness…
1. Name three things in life that make you happy. And, please tell us a little about each one.
a, My girly.. My 2 and a half year old.. Sometimes i feel like i’m going to spontaneously combust she makes me that happy.. Also all the other kiddys in my life..
b, My husband (corny I know) He knows exactly how to make me laugh, exactly when I need it.. After I had my daughter.. I was in state of shock, a bit all over the place in the hospital and Very Teary. My husband came in to see me and went to sit on the bed.. The bed cracked and it nearly broke.. He just looked at me and said “ohhh betty” in frank spencer’s voice.. And we both cracked up laughing.. (laughter tears were streaming and that was exactly what i needed)
c, Wine.. Red wine.. On a Friday and Saturday night.. With good company,, and a bit of crac,, (the Irish kind and not the hard drugs kind 😉 )
2. What’s something you do to find your happiness when you’ve lost it?
Lots of wine!!! She jokes… i think it’s good to have a few tools in your “wellness” kit bag when this happens.. I would chat to siblings or best friends , go for a family walk.. Or even treat myself to a pamper.. And then maybe have a glass of wine.
3. What cheers you up after a long, difficult day?
(I could answer all of these with wine.. ) story time with my 2-year-old.. Its my favorite time of the day.. My hubs gets in on it too, and sometimes does sound effects while I read.. My little girl loves it.. And it always makes me smile
4. Does your job make you happy? If you are a SAH parent, does that make you happy?
I’m a stay at home mum for now.. I love it.. It’s the toughest but most rewarding job in the world
5. Share a happy memory with us.
I was 5 and there was a raffle at school to win a smarties easter egg, I won!!!.. I remember skipping home with it under my arm.. God it was such a good day.. My mum told me I was so lucky.. And had me picking out horses in the paper and brought me to bingo a few times.. But my winning streak ended there unfortunately.
6. Do you think money can bring happiness?
I don’t think happiness is getting everything you want, some of the most disadvantaged children are always photographed with huge smiles on their little faces.. But it does help when getting the bare necessities.
7. Is your happiness influenced by the things you do or the way you think?
I would say I’m an optimist.. I aways looking at the lighter side of life.. And love a good laugh..
8. Which would make you the happiest – a sun holiday, new car or a new job opportunity?
We’ve just come back from the Algarve at it was fantastic.. My car is a bit of an old rust bucket and needs a kick start an odd morning , but that suits me, because I hate driving and puts me under less pressure than if it was a spanking new one.. A job opportunity sounds promising.. If it was something that worked around me being a sahm..
9. Which wine makes you happier – red or white?
Has to be red.. Until i’ve run out.. THEN ANY!!!
