Foolproof Methods For Thicker Hair

collaborative post

For some people, thin hair is natural. But, interestingly, there are ways to thicken it up quite considerably. And, interestingly, they’re easier to pull off than you might think. You don’t have to take any medication or spend hours in the gym. All you need is some patience and to do the right thing.

But what, exactly, should be on your radar? Here are your options.

Eat The Right Foods

The road to thick hair is paved with a good idea. The higher the quality of the food you eat, the better your hair will look.

Thinning hair is often a sign that a person is not getting the nutrients they need. Once you provide your body with the right thickening ingredients, suddenly the situation will change. You’ll find that your hair grows so much better than before.

If your diet is letting you down, try including some of the following ingredients:

  • Salmon

  • Eggs

  • Greek yoghurt

  • Beans

All of these foods contain the same types of proteins as hair. Eating the right amount of them provides your body with the nutrients it needs to make your hair thick, attractive and beautiful.

Put Avocado On Your Scalp

Avocado isn’t just a stylish food: it’s also amazing for the hair. That’s because it contains high quantities of vitamin E, an essential nutrient and moisturiser.

You can add avocado to the hair directly. Just mix one fruit with a tablespoon of olive oil, mashing it into a paste. Then apply it directly to the hair and scalp. Leave it for a few minutes and then wash it out with regular shampoo.

Add Coconut Oil To Your Routine

Another strategy you can try is adding coconut oil to your hair. Studies show that the hair can actually absorb the substance, preventing split ends and other types of damage.

Some studies show that coconut oil can thicken hair and stimulate growth. Compounds in the oil appear to get into the hair follicles themselves and cause them to work harder on producing thick, luscious hair.

Apply Rosemary Oil

You can also try adding rosemary oil to your hair or mixing it with your regular shampoo. Rosemary is a herb with many health benefits, but researchers also believe that it is a powerful component of a healthy scalp. When combined with conventional hair loss treatments, people who took rosemary oil saw their hair thinning more slowly.

Interestingly, rosemary may address multiple forms of alopecia, not just male pattern baldness. Therefore, it’s an option for women, too. Experiment with it for a few months and see if you notice a difference in hair quality and thickness. Use rosemary oil to fight thinning hair.

Add Curls To Your Hair

Working to restore natural curl pattern in your hair can also help to make it appear thicker. Curls add visual volume to your locks.

You can restore curls in several ways. The most obvious is to simply use curlers. However, if you want something more permanent, then a perm will work. Or, if you want to go old-school, rollers will have the same effect.

Microneedling

Another hair-thickening method is microneedling. Here, you directly stress the scalp, encouraging hair to come back thicker and stronger than before.

Microneedling is an interesting process. It works by rolling a small, needle-covered device over your head that makes tiny holes in your scalp. These holes stress the hair follicles in a positive way, encouraging them to become active and produce more hair.

Studies show that when combined with other strategies, microneedling is effective in restoring hair growth. Over time, hair looks fuller and thicker than before.

It can be a little painful, though. Making small holes in your scalp feels a bit like someone is scratching your head quite hard.

Biotin And Selenium Supplements

Biotin, selenium, zinc and some other vitamins and minerals are essential for hair growth. If you don’t get enough of them, it can have an impact on your follicles, causing them to produce thinner or weaker hair that falls out more easily.

Today, though, there are plenty of supplements you can take to correct this. Both biotin and selenium are essential for dealing with issues related to thinning hair and they can make a tremendous difference over time.

Try to buy products in bulk. You shouldn’t have to spend a great deal to get the results you want.

Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

Some anti-dandruff shampoos contain a compound called ketoconazole. It’s both antifungal and anti-androgenic, meaning that it will reduce certain hormones in your scalp that can cause hair loss.

You shouldn’t use these products every day, though. Limit them to twice a week for the best results. (Otherwise, you might wind up irritating your scalp or face).

Thickening Shampoos

At the same time, you can also get thickening shampoos. These give the hair a more full-bodied appearance after a single use.

The active ingredient, interestingly, is hyaluronic acid. This protects the skin while also giving the hair stands nutrients they can use to bulk themselves up.

Look for brands that avoid alcohol and parabens. These ingredients can actually thin your hair over time. Massage into your scalp thoroughly and then leave the formula for a minute or two so that it can do its work. Then simply rinse out and wait for the results to take effect.

Using a thickening shampoo long-term is likely to lead to superior results. Keep trying for a couple of months, monitoring your hair before and after to see if it makes a difference.

Aloe Gel

Some people use aloe gel to thicken their hair and increase collagen. Aloe is a plant with various benefits for the scalp and hair. Some anecdotal evidence suggests that it can thicken the hair over time.

Applying raw aloe to the hair directly probably won’t work. Therefore, look for trusted brands that include it as an ingredient in their creams and gels.

Gels contain a micronized version of aloe that makes it easier for the active ingredient to get into your hair follicles and strands. However, it won’t work immediately because it is a natural product. You’ll want to leave it in your hair for at least 30 minutes before rinsing it out.

You can also make homemade aloe treatments by combining aloe with coconut oil. Again, just massage it into the scalp and then wait for it to nourish and moisturise. You can also use olive oil if coconut is not available.

Castor Oil

Castor oil is one of the simplest and easiest ways to thicken your hair. And it hardly requires spending any money at all.

Castor oil is good for the hair because it’s rich in vitamin E and various other fatty acids. These get into the hair follicles and stimulate considerable growth.

If you use castor oil, take the same approach as aloe gel. Massage it into the hair and then leave it for 30 minutes before washing it out.

Go For A Scalp Massage

If all else fails, you can try a scalp massage. Regularly massaging your own hair or going to a professional may increase hair thickness over a period of six months or so.

You’ll need to be patient, though. Scalp massages don’t work instantly. It takes time for circulation to improve and for that to have an effect on hair follicles. Expect quite a significant delay.

Wrapping Up

There are, of course, medications that you can use for thicker, fuller hair. But, unfortunately, these tend to come with side effects, like most treatments.

Ideally, you should experiment. Spend a few months trying things and seeing if they work.
