Forget London! Here's 3 Other Cities To Visit On A Trip To The South Of England!

collaborative post

If you’d like to visit some of the biggest and best cities the South of England has to offer, London is naturally going to be your number one pick.

It’s the capital, it’s got a very unique blend of culture and cuisine, and there’s so much history to soak up while you’re in town. Plus, as far as nightlife goes, London is always switched on and ready to provide a good night out.

However, London isn’t the only city in the south of the UK that’s great for tourists.

Whether you’re on a road trip from one point to another, or you’ve been backpacking your way across northern moors and made your way down south, London shouldn’t be your only choice for a more metropolitan place to enjoy!

As such, here are 3 of the most amazing southern cities that’ll be worth your time while you’re visiting the UK.

Brighton

A real gem nestled right on the edge of the south east coast of England, Brighton is one of the best cities to visit if you’re a fan of London and love going there. After all, it’s practically a second London!

There’s a brilliant eatery scene to the city as well, with a particular host of great italian restaurant Brighton options down its famous Lanes. You can also stop for coffee, cake, and live music while you’re in The Lanes, where you’ll also find a lot of cutesy, boutique, specialist shops that’ll ensure you take home a unique souvenir.

Bath

Bath is an incredibly popular spot for tourists, as it’s one of the oldest cities in the UK complete with Roman Baths that draw around a million visitors per year. As such, the city itself has even got UNESCO World Heritage Site Status!

It’s a beautiful city to explore, with green spaces, old buildings, and cultural centers. And if you love to read, there’s plenty of Jane Austen attractions to check out - and even a Frankenstein museum that the whole family will love!

Winchester

An incredibly picturesque city that’s about 60 miles from London, Winchester is a place that sticks close to its Medieval roots. It’s not the biggest city in the south, by any means, but it is a very special one that deserves a visit.

It’s the kind of city where you can get lost in the old architecture, get up close and personal with famous myths, and get plenty of fresh air in nature reserves and nearby national parks.

Try a Different City While You’re in the South

Spending some time in southern England can open up a breadth of new and amazing cities to visit - all of which can even be reached on a day trip from London.

You won’t need to spend more than an hour and a half on the train to visit Brighton, Bath, or Winchester! So if you’re in London right now, take some time to get out of the capital and find another great city to enjoy!
