I reviewed the Nixplay Seed photo frame last year and have had it sitting in our living room ever since. I find it an amazing way to keep in touch with my family in the US and also a perfect way to keep our family memories alive. Nixplay were kind enough to send me a new frame, the Nixplay Iris to review. The Iris is a really stunning frame which comes in silver, peach copper & brushed bronze. It looks like a beautiful photo frame with a thick frame around the digital photo screen.
I picked the bronze frame and really adore the look! It goes so nicely in my sitting room and looks like a beautiful photo frame. The Iris is an 8″ frame the same as the Nixplay Seed is only the frame is wider and which makes for a different look.
Setting up the Nixplay Iris
Set up could not have been easier. It’s so nicely packaged with easy to follow directions. I like the wire at the back of the Iris, it sits easily on the table. After turning the frame on, it goes through some updates and then gives a short explanation with a video right on the frame.
Because I already had a Nixplay account and had the Nixplay Seed in use, some photos magically popped onto the Iris without me even doing anything. That was very exciting for the kids and I alike.
I logged into my Nixplay account and added the new frame then easily added the photos to my new frame. I plan on giving the Seed to a friend of mine so I removed the photos from that at the same time. Which I have to say was also really simple to do.
The whole set up process took about 10 minutes. It took a little longer with my first frame as I had the initial set up of a Nixplay account and to add photos to the frame. But it really couldn’t be easier. And so easy to add new photos to the frame without any wires or cards.
Using the Nixplay Iris
You can add photos to the frame digitally from anywhere in the world. It’s a truly amazing system. Once you sync with the frame you simply add and drag photos to the frame and they appear without having to use any cords or cards. It all happens over wifi.
Like a lot of people, I have stopped printing photos so having the Nixplay digital photo frame in the sitting room is the best way to keep both old and current photos alive in our memories by having them on display in the house.
The kids love to sit and watch the photos go by and so do visitors. The frame is like a magnet for people, like watching a little movie!
The settings are right on the frame via the frame’s remote or they can be accessed through your Nixplay account. Some handy settings that I enjoy are ones like having the frame snooze while no one is home. It has a sensor and you can set the frame to turn off when it doesn’t sense anyone in the room after a set amount of time. I also have my frame set to turn on at 7am and off at 11pm. You can set brightness and the way the photos are displayed too. And make it truly customizable to your own needs.
