Evening style rituals can help redefine what it means to feel and look good, with positive results for your persona, work and romantic life. Of course, it can be hard to even begin a new routine when you already have so much going on. But you better believe that a nighttime routine can and will result in better-looking skin and restful sleep, from facial massage to digital detox.

Clothing, Cooling and Cleansing
If there is even one small ritual you try before bed, it’s slipping into suitable nightwear, setting the temperature and cleansing yourself. This simple routine is an excellent foundation that can lead to something more complex later on. For now, though, slipping into a cotton nightdress, turning off the heat or opening the window for a while, and using oil-absorbing wipes or wash can help prepare your body and mind for a more comfortable and enriched night’s sleep.
Relax with a Facial Massage
Everyone has heard of massage, but you may not know that any part of the body can be massaged for health and mindfulness benefits. Even if it is just your face, a nightly massage has numerous positive results, including preventing acne and sending your brain the night’s relaxation signals. Begin by removing the day’s first with a cleanser. Then follow this with a 2-minute facial massage using your fingers and lotion or a tool such as a Gua Sha device.
Hydrating Evening Style Rituals
Rather surprisingly, only around 50% of people have a nighttime ritual they do before bed, and it’s mostly women. While not everyone has a self-care guide to recharge the mind and body, most people with a nightly ritual have a few things they do. One of the most popular is ensuring proper hydration before bed without drinking too much. You can nourish the skin with hydrating serums and night creams that contain ceramide, and even drink water with melon or cucumber.
A Digital Detox and Dimmed Ambience
Almost everyone spends most of their day with a smartphone, tablet or computer, and any of these can impact your life in a negative way, no matter how useful they are. For improved sleep, you must banish these devices from the bedroom and set the perfect atmosphere. At least one hour before bed, switch everything off and leave your phone somewhere it can’t disturb you. Then set a few 20-minute candles for a dim atmosphere that promotes the rest you need.
The Mindful Purge of the Brain
You can spend so much of your day with thoughts swirling around your brain, so much so that they can be hard to get rid of. However, just like yourself, it helps your sleep and body function if you put your thoughts to bed as part of a nightly ritual. Some people find journaling an effective method of purging the mind of excess thoughts, as you essentially transfer them to the page. Combined with some of the above methods, a solid rest will become just a pen stroke away.
Summary
Dressing appropriately for bed, setting a cooler temperature, and cleansing will form a simple but effective evening ritual that helps promote better sleep and youthful skin. Hydrating is also important, and you can use ceramides before bed, even after journaling, to purge your thoughts.
