Welcome back to my positivity focus. I apologize for the long break since our last post. Positivity Focus Week 10 was about self-care. This week we are focusing on gratitude. I have written about gratitude a few times here on Cuddle Fairy because it’s a topic that’s near and dear to my heart.
I started my positivity journey years ago after reading about gratitude and what amazing effects focusing on gratitude can have for your mindset and for your body. One of my very first blog posts was about gratitude! I wrote about a video I had watched about becoming gratefullness making us happy. I still think about that video every day. You can read that post here.
A few weeks ago during our focus week 8, we focused on happiness and how it comes from within yourself. You won’t’ find happiness in a shop or in another person. It comes from within you.
Sure a new car might make you feel excited for a little while but that’s not true happiness. .And a relationship won’t bring you happiness within yourself either. That beautiful peace of mind and calm that comes from being content – that’s pure happiness.
Often times people think If I had this new item, then I’d be happy. If I had a husband, then I’d be happy. If I got this job promotion, then I’d be happy. And if I was happy, then I’d be grateful for the blessings in my life.
I’ll be honest, that’s how I used to think too! Until I had an eye-opening moment – that happiness doesn’t bring us gratitude. It is the other way around! If we are grateful for what we have now, then that brings us happiness.
You focus on gratitude when you are glad for things in your life like food, a warm bed, good health, friends, etc. And when we are feeling grateful for all of these lovely blessings, then we feel happy. And happiness brings more happiness and peace of mind.
Gratitude Brings Us Happiness and Peace
Pure happiness to me means peace of mind and a calmness in your heart. That is happiness. Happiness with who you are, a calm and peace within that keeps us steady.
And by focusing on that gratitude, we find that beautiful happiness and peace of mind within ourselves.
Gratitude Brings Us More Good Things
When we focus our mind on what we already have, and on being grateful for what we have, then we draw more goodness to us. When we focus on what we are lacking in and what we wish we had but don’t have, we draw more lack to us.
Positivity brings more positivity. Negativity brings more negativity.
So focus on being grateful and more good things will come to you! AND by focusing on gratitude for what you have now, you find happiness – that genuine happiness within yourself. That happiness that can only come from within.
So for this week, let’s focus on gratitude. Make a list of the things you are grateful for in your life and read over that list every day. Or add a new item to the list daily. The best things in life are the basic things, just look around and see all the good things in your life.

A gratitude list is a great thing. I kicked off the New Year with a 10 week commitment to write down all my wins for the week. I might have to do a one of now for the things I’m grateful for this week. Generally thought, I am thankful for having a very supportive partner, the opportunity to be a mother which I never thought would happen, a wonderful child and an ability to deal with most things life throws at me. Everything else is just window dressing. #BloggerClubUK
I love this post! And it is so true. We will never be happy if we are not grateful. 🙂 #BloggerClubUK

This is so true Becky. The modern world bombards us with advertising, telling us we will be happy if we have this or that item.
More often it is what we have in front of us that makes us truly happy.
Louise at Little Hearts Big Love does a 365 days of gratitude and posts a picture each day of something she is grateful for.
