Best Places To Watch The Sunset In Orange County, CA

collaborative post

Orange County is located in Southern California between Los Angeles and San Diego. Watching the sunset in Orange County and other West Coast locations is a unique experience because it looks as though the sun is sinking right into the ocean and, for a while at least, the magnificent colours are reflected in the waters below.

A private sunset cruise is just one of the ways to view it during your stay in Orange County. Here is some more information about the area as well as some of the best spots to see the spectacle at the end of the day.

About Orange County

The first permanent European settlement in the area that eventually became Orange County was the San Juan Capistrano Mission. Though the county was originally named for abundant orange groves, there are few of these namesake areas remaining in the O.C. today.

Orange County draws a lot of visitors because of the consistently beautiful weather and the many attractions. The most famous is probably Disneyland, but Knott's Berry Farm is another popular O.C. attraction. Visitors and residents alike enjoy cheering on Orange County's professional sports teams and attending presentations at quality performance halls and visual arts venues.

Another prominent feature of Orange County is the many beaches and parks, some of which double as spots to watch the O.C.'s famous sunsets.

Breathtaking Sunset Spots

You certainly don't have to stay on land to enjoy a sunset in Orange County. You could get together with loved ones for a private dinner on a boat and then enjoy the sunset afterwards from the water.

There's something magical about being on the ocean when watching the sunset, but it isn't your only option. There are some picturesque spots on land from which you can watch the sunset in Orange County as well. Here are a few that have been recommended by locals:

  1. Crystal Cove State Park is located in the Laguna Beach area and boasts a 3.2-mile stretch of beach. You can watch the sunset from the beach, the hilltops overlooking it, or from one of the rocks in the cove. In any case, the glow somehow seems a little brighter.

  2. Part of the attraction of Dana Point Harbor is the many bars and restaurants in the area. The sunset is just the first act; the way the area lights up at night is part of the show.

  3. Take the Pacific Coast Highway to Huntington Beach and follow Main Street as far as you can go. You'll find the Huntington Beach Pier at the end of it. This historic pier is iconic in the surfing community and popular with both residents and visitors. It draws all kinds of people, including couples and families, to enjoy the atmosphere while celebrating the stunning conclusion of a beautiful day.

  4. If you're concerned about fighting crowds, try Seaview Park in Laguna Nigel for sunset viewing. It takes a bit of a drive to get there, but that helps to deter crowds from gathering. It is a great place to see the nature of Southern California up close, and the rolling green hills only add to the sunset seascape.

Whether you're interested in an intimate ocean excursion or a boat party San Diego, a charter cruise is an excellent way to turn sunset on the West Coast into a momentous event.

It's amazing seeing the sun set over the sea. It looks so pretty and something I've not seen as often as I'd like. Seeing it at Crystal Cove would be amazing!!!
