I’m so excited to present you with my Who’s Hungry? Book Review & giveaway! Who’s Hungry? is a brand new turn the flap book by Dean Hacohen & Sherry Scharschmit.
Last month we received a copy of Tuck Me In! book to review & giveaway. My kiddies absolutely loved it! Tuck Me In! book creates the perfect mood for going to bed. If you missed my review, you can find it here. The kids & I were delighted when Walker Books asked me to review Dean Hacohen & Sherry Scharschmit’s newest book, Who’s Hungry? We had high expectations after loving the Tuck Me In! book so much.
As you have probably guessed, Who’s Hungry? Is a book about little animals who are hungry. When asked, “who’s hungry?” each animal answers “I am! & the child turns the flap to feed the animal. Below, the bunny gets fed a carrot. You can see a bite taken out of the carrot when the flap is turned.
Each animal gets fed what they normally eat. For example, the seal eats a fish. The illustrations are really adorable.
Much like Tuck Me In! book, the repetitiveness of asking who’s hungry & answering I am, helps encourage language. My 2-year-old daughter was repeating the words & laughed each time an animal ate its food. We practiced speech by saying the names of the animals & foods. At the start & end of the book, there are drawings of foods kids love to eat. Such as popcorn, cheese, & an apple. My daughter loved reciting the names of all the foods. She’s going through a popcorn phase & was quite excited to see it featured in her new book.
Who’s Hungry? has lived up to our high expectations & is another huge hit in our house. It’s a lovely addition to our bedtime reading routine. Who’s Hungry? & other wonderful books can be found on the Walker Books Picture Book Party site.
