The idea of redecorating a room, or worse – a whole house! – can seem really daunting. With so many different interior styles out there, it can be hard to even know where to start. Add to that the explosion of sites like Pinterest and so much visual inspiration on Instagram and you’ve got yourself a recipe for feeling totally overwhelmed.
Luckily I’ve learnt a thing or two about decorating over the years, and my pick of stylish home accessories will give you a starting point if you’re attempting to revamp a tired space, or even add luxury to the whole house.
There’s nothing like a luxurious light fixture to really improve the quality of a space, and from chandeliers to modern floor lamps, there’s never been more choice on the market. My current favourites are these amazing fluffy feather pendant lights from Graham And Green – how adorable are they?! In various sizes, you can invest in one large one to hang stylishly from the centre of your room or dot a couple around for a dash of texture. I’m in love.
Unique Knick Knacks
When it comes to really personalising your home, it makes sense to add some unique touches that show off your taste and sense of humour. You can’t have failed to notice the trend for indoor plants, and how it’s absolutely exploded recently! We love getting green fingered in our house, and plants have a number of health and wellbeing benefits – perfect to teach little ones how to take care of something. I am absolutely obsessed with all the sweet animal plant pots from Etsy. They are fun, playful, and a big hit with grown ups and children alike. Little accessories like this really help to personalise your space – the only problem is picking which one to choose as there are so many cute ones!
A great multitasking investment, footstools can be used as a stylish pouffe when relaxing on the sofa, but also double up as a sort of miniature table to rest books, coasters and even plants or knick knacks. Arlo & Jacob has some of my absolute favourites at the moment – whether you choose a plush velvet buttoned beauty or go for something snazzy like the spotty Ferdinand below, you won’t regret this elegant (and useful) investment.
Nothing finishes off a room quite like framed prints or posters. I love this ‘sweet dreams’ pair from Blim & Blum – so Instagrammable! Whether you go for something like the below, or choose to frame a favourite painting or selection of photographs that have been in the family for years, adding your own touch to plain walls will look endlessly stylish and make you smile whenever you see them.
